Charitable Organization “Sunrise Ukraine”

Summary

Nonprofit fund “Sunrise Ukraine” is first and foremost a community of caring people, who came together to help the residents of Kharkiv and it’s front-line suburbs.

From the first days of russian invasion we have been collecting and delivering humanitarian aid to the affected people: medications, baby food, diapers, clothes, food and sanitary items. All the products were purchased using our own funds and later donations from the Ukrainian people.

Our fund was created to provide more help to a bigger population.

Challenge

When full-on attack by the russian federation started on the 24^th of February, Kharkiv and surrounding towns have been critically affected and are still under heavy fire. As a result of successful operation by the Ukrainian armed forces, many communities are being freed from the occupant, but the enemy is angry and they continue the shelling from afar. The aggressor is bombing and destroying key infrastructure points, hospitals and residential areas in Ukrainian cities and towns. As a direct result from the bombings, peaceful residents are suffering, homes are demolished, storage facilities are destoryed. They include produce storage, medical and pharmaceutical storage buildings. All this means, that the needs of residents are vast.

We reach new people daily and meet many families repeatedly, as they continually need help with basic needs.

Right now “Sunrise Ukraine” is receiving much more pleas for help than we can handle, we urgently need assistance.

Solution

Every day we are working with humanitarian loads. We unload the trucks and distribute the products to the residents of Kharkiv and Poltava region, internally displaced people, those living in so called “gray zones”, disabled and families with children, who are all facing very trying circumstances at the moment.

We plan to reach more communities and cover more needs. As we are faced with ever increasing quantity of requests, we are also witnessing how they change and evolve. We are working with local producers and businesses to find solutions for this crisis.

A very important direction in our work is assisting the first responders of Kharkiv. Under constant threat of assault and often during, they continue to work, saving hundreds of lives each day.

Long-Term Impact

Russian military aggression is having a major impact all around the world, and they are especially tragic for the people of Ukraine.

After three months of war up to 85% of businesses have suffered or were forced to stop completely, many people are not able to go back to work. As a result, people are relying heavily on donations and humanitarian aid while they restore their lives back to normal. We will continue distributing food, medications, children’s products etc. We see our role as supporting the community and connections we have built over time. Together we can do more.
